What's up LCC? I am just thanking you for allowing me to join your forum and letting me play on your server--I like it very much.

My questions are these:
1) how do you make "screen shots" of RUNE chars in poses, etc for your profile?

2) do you guys "train" people in various combos, etc?

Greetings Thorgrim! Good playing you yesterday, though I don't think I was being very friendly, being either in berserk mode or dead tired...

For screenshots, type sshot... it's best to bind it to a key so it just takes a quick button push to grab a shot. (Set input [key] sshot) There's also a way to lock your camera so you can turn your character around and view it from all angles; the code for that is set runeplayer bcameralock tog, I believe.

As for training, I pretty much learned entirely by myself, by constant practise and many deaths. A few members here gave me pointers, but overall the best way to learn is to try for yourself, though if you have a specific question, go ahead and ask, see if anyone can help you. It's mostly all button mashing and mouse movement, and a good eye and quick reflexes.

Nice to see you coming by the forum and the arena. I will give you some pointers next time your in the arena if you want. I have helped quite a few players here. But really as Yellow said its just playing us a lot that makes you a better player. If you have any questions at all just ask. Our club here has usually quick responses to any question.

No worries on being friendly, I can relate about berzerk mode and fatigue. I was only teasing about you having a grudge against me anyway . . .

Thanks for the advice on how to go about 'training'. I think the one thing that pisses me off the most is that 'ballerina spin of death' that seems to dominate other servers I've played on. It is very deadly and seems nigh unstoppable at times. I know I am still green but I DO have some skills . . . LOL.

Bah. I don't like them spinning tops on the high cal servers any more then you... though I am well on my way to becoming a bit of one myself. To that sort of stunt you would need to set your Rune mouse sensitivity to 20 or 30, which is what most people have it at... mine is set to 3 or 4. Control over speed; only drawback being I can't spin 360 degrees in one flick of the mouse. I don't know how people can get enjoyment out of the game doing the same... flippin'... idiotic... move... every... time...

To defeat that sort of thing just have to learn the combos, judge when the person will finish a swing, and jump in before they can get started again. Takes a lot of practice, and it doesn't always work 'cause people have very different styles and switch from one combo move to another very quickly. Another way to do it is throw a hammer at the back of their head...

I actually see very little consistent jumpswinging and such in LCA. It doesn't work too well with most low cal weapons, I suppose. Though if a noob does try that, it's fairly easy to duck under them and cut them to pieces before they hit the floor. Feet on the ground, mammal!

That just made me think of another question though. If LCC promotes the first 3 stages of weapons why do they not use the Viksword/axe and trialpit? Would they consider adding another arena that would only use those weapons there so not to unbalance the traditional ones? Just a thought and I an NOT trying to upset the harmony that is LCC.

Consitution aside, from what I've seen the first two stages of weapons are the only ones considered "low cal", with the next stage being more of a "medium cal"... makes a bit of sense I suppose, seeing how most of those weapons can kill in one blow, if done correctly.

We have on occasion had trial pit mace wars, and even sometimes have had larger weapons summoned for a round or two of chaos. But for the most part, I don't think we promote those weapons...

Not really sure on this one, maybe one of the older members can clarify.

Aw poo, sorry, I'd like to know myself. I never actually did it, and wondered how everyone else did it, therefore me=have no clue! Could be extremely useful, would make it easier to funkify my sshots and take up yet another thousand megs of space with this stuff.

If someone would be all-too-kind as to post the command, that'd be all-too-kind, hehe!

I use this fairly often actually; good for admiring yourself, seeing how well your character is hiding someplace, seeing how ugly you look after being beaten over the head with a hammer, etc...

Aw, much thanks :writes it down...or just puts it in the user.ini:, should be fun, there's a lot of instances where I just feel like.... well, panning! So this locks and unlocks the camera I suppose? Yum.

IT is sOOOO hard to play like that though... try it, I dare ya

Welcome Thorgrim, I've seen you around, in action...
Medium cal weaps were initially present, but I guess people sprang to those 'automatically' and favoured much of the tactics you would see in many HOV Arena servers today, especially with the broadsword/shield...side-strafe/circle continously...so this place would become another broadsword/shield vs broadsword/shield place...or jump-spin with the trial pit continuously in the hope of the one-hit frag.

I don't profess to hate any particular style, weapon or combo really, as I would use them all, the jump-spin and 'turtle' more elsewhere...
In general it's actually very fun to go arena server-hopping (1.01 servers especially) and try your hand at the low/medium cal weapons against the high cals. I always come back from those with a different feel and enthusiasm for low cal.
We had some medium cal's going at one stage in some deathmatch style maps, which kind of spiced up variety.
One particular style I'd recommend for here is the 'Fister' style; show you in the server some day, that is if you don't bump to Mr Fister first, hehe...

Hehe I must warn you..... Fister Style is VERY hard on the lungs hehe. *cough*
