Finally got the server back on Windows; and the stats
appear to be working as normal (phew!). I'll work on getting a second server up in the next day or so: skulf, cycle, headball?
Wed February 18 2004, 12:43 PM
PencilExcuse my inopportune ignorance, but what be "cycle"? I haven't but a clue

(for shame!).
Wed February 18 2004, 12:44 PM
YellowHairCycle, headball!
Though headball is slightly difficult using low cals... medium cal maybe? Baah...
Cycle was our secondary server which ran a bunch of DM maps... the good ol' ones, like Hel, Thorstat, Coliseum, Ingles (great for koopas!)...

Pencil-So a bunch of maps in a 'cycle' using the pretty pretty RAK mod? I want

!
--'Tis Low Caliber, I'd hope... because if I wanted hi-caliber weapons I'd just play by myself and spawn a bunch of NPCs and poke them to death

(and take a bazillion screenshots and videos for no reason like usual

!)
--- AND the host is down. I blame YOU, Yellow

, scapegoats are fun.
---- And now its back up! I'm confused

.

You're right, Yellow; another possibility Dant' aired was a Team Deathmatch. I'll put up the basic cycle for the time being and we can think about it.
(Sorry for being grumpy earlier.)

PencilHehehe, so that thing under LCA is the "Low Caliber Cycle" right now? Notice stupid me put a "yay" after the 'test' and 'test2'. Sorry about that, lol.
Oh and team deathmatch would be so nice for the LCC, shall you consider that to be the main game for the Cycle? Yum.

YellowHairTeam games are good fun; another possiblity maybe sometimes... team arena matches? I've been doing that a lot with high cal; is quite different from arena FFA and requires unique skills.
(eehhh confused... whatever...)

SocketboyI say med cals headball. I have still never played headball! How long have I had this game? it is terrible. I need to try this out!
Same type thing, I live in Colorado, yet have never even tried skiing or snowboarding...

Wed February 18 2004, 03:09 PM
ThorgrimOK that is blasphemy (no ski or board) . . .

Wed February 18 2004, 05:47 PM
PencilOkay I went through a few rounds in the cycle and, well, can we play Skolf again?
(Maybe it was just who was playing that turned me off, but yeah).
Wed February 18 2004, 05:53 PM
SocketboyNo headball!
Or maybe a snowboarding mod?

Wed February 18 2004, 06:26 PM
YellowHairThe arena mods are running in the Cycle... bad!
Wed February 18 2004, 06:39 PM
SocketboyAND!!!
Every time it changes maps i get this (and game crashes) . Never used to either
Wed February 18 2004, 06:49 PM
DanteLOL had a few ideas while waiting in some awful queues...
Headball/low cal with some steroids (aka bloodlust)? Dunno?
The small size of the arena means >2 people would have trouble picking up the fallen head in time to score through the goalbox.
Yeah, as for team deathmatch style...maybe start out with some ability to kill teammates shields and some measure of damage to said teammate?
Empiricism really, if you need some play-testing, I'll be gladly around...
And I'm in favor of Alfheim and the contest maps getting some time...
Wed February 18 2004, 08:14 PM
PencilHmm, well firstly, keep Hildir and Thorsadt (or however it be spellered), and the rest, well, DIE! Not as much fun as they should have been

, I agree with Dante with the Contest Maps.
Maybe we should only cycle the homegrown LCC maps? I'm sure that would be quite fun, and downloading shouldn't be a problem for those who really want to play, we can get the maps off the forums! (Maybe a big post with links to every map download that will be on the server?) Just my 17 cents.

Thanks, Yellow; done.

Good idea, Pencil; we had that running for awhile, only very few people downloaded. Since the cycle is mainly a service for the members to take a break from the arena, that doesn't really matter though. “Low Caliber Collegium” it used to be called, with maps from Fister, Midknight, and Faison.

Fantastic idea, Dant'; great way to “tweak” the results. We'd have to get rid of invincibility.

Interesting; I played through a couple games with no fault. Is it still happening?
Thu February 19 2004, 12:17 PM
PencilYay I had a good, while not original in your eyes, idea! Now that there's quite a lot of maps on there, I'm sure we'll have a nice cycle up. Oh, and you say the Cycle is a place for members to take a break? Well then that's all the better, if download times are a problem for strangers, then poop on 'em, I suppose

! Plus, they ruin it

. A revived Collegium would be awesome, even a great way for us to actually see some work we haven't seen yet from the members [I, for one, barely played any maps besides Gravlpass, Stronghold (a lot!), TeTArena, Mount Olympus, and some others].

PencilOh, and similar to a problem Socketboy may have (well not at all, but a new problem nonetheless), most of the time when I join for the first time in the server, I end up crashing it. It does that thing where I just run fast in space and then I go back in and everything is dead

, happened on both servers. I have no idea what you can do about it, but I'm jsut addressing this problem myself because other people have done this. Yellow has, I believe, at least on Cycle she did (it crashed and went back to previous map), and many many other members and stuff have crashed it (and denied it, lol).

MuggyUnter and all those on the tech side great job !!!! Thank you.

radixI'm also crashing in similar circumstances as socketboy's. I don't get the dialog, of course, because I'm on Linux ;-) It's a basic segfault (= "general protection fault") whenever the map changes.
