Alright, so I've discovered this site called Kirupa.com (Most of the Photoshop buffs around here have probably heard about it, but it's new to me! )

Anyways, they have this forum called "Battles". Intrigued by the name, I visited the forum and was massively impressed by the talent that inhabits it!

Here's how a battle works (as best as I can tell):
One person picks an initial photo and edits it within the constraints of some set rules (set by the two in the "Battle")
Next, the editted image is sent to the opponent and the opponent must now edit it - again according to the rules. This is called a "volley".
It goes on like this until they reach the number of volleys declared in the rules.

After sorting through a few of these battles, this one most impressed me. These two guys are insanely good!

At any rate, I've been somewhat inspired by the people at KirupaForums and am going to start fooling around with Photoshop... In the next post, I'll link to an image I was screwing around with.

Ok, so here's my first decent attempt at Photoshop... It took ME about an hour, so don't expect anything good

Here's what I started with. I drew up a little cartoony robot in Flash (cuz I like Vector drawing, goddamnit!!!)

And then I took it to Photoshop and added a few simple Blending Options and a background to get this'n.

It's really nothing special, but it let me see a bit of what Photoshop has to offer. I'm taking a few tutorials and shit, so it'll still be a while before I get into any impressive Photo editting - even then, I doubt I'll even compare to this CanadianGuy. But it's fun!

Oh, and here's something else I did recently. It just so happens that another forum I frequent supports Avatars with .swf extensions... you know what that means!

Hehe... the ActionScript in here adds a nice, subtle touch. I made a script to make the smoke (that took some thinkin!) and one that makes the lil guy get higher and higher... (he has 4 stages, each stage incrementing after 2 hauls!)

Ah... I hope Fister checks this one out!

About those photothingies of the canadian guy. This is much easier than drawing, believe me. You can do that too. Just let flwo you imagination. If you have an idea for a project, tell me and we can try to get it done. I can give you help, if you like or just an advice. I don't know all, but sometimes I may have an easy solution
