Hey guys with the advent of me traveling an AWFUL lot for my new job i never get a chance to play and talk to you all. I am currently trying to find a laptop that is strong enough to install, map and play Rune on. Oh yea, it'll help with work too. Gotta get priorities straight, right?

Does anyone have any idea's as to a sysytem or a a site that has affordable laptops. Oh, also requirements that I might need would be good to know about. I can build a powerhouse desktop from scratch and cheap too, but know nothing about laptops and their hardware.

We miss you to Faison!!! Laptop eh!!!! Well I would talk to Dante but he is on another 6 week adventure in medicine. For my advice I would look into a 15" screen the biggest you can get and make sure its a matrix display or the new one (forget name......), 256 MB Ram would suffice for the time being and its about standard right now. Make sur you have built in network and dial up jacks because the dongles are shitty and break easily. As for floppy drive I would look towards an external and leave room for either another hard drive or battery. Dvd-rom/Cd-RW combo drive. Stick to Pentium, Celeron or Centerion chips because the AMD notebooks heat up to quickly. The video card can probably be a 32mb nvidia or 64 mb nvidia 440. Hard drive is entirly up to you really. I think 40GB would be satisfactory. Anything else you need to know you know where to get me.

I'm not a laptop guru by any means but do you have a price range that you're working with?

My girlfriend's laptop is very nice, runs Rune like a total champ too.

I have a P4 1.6Ghz laptop with 256Mb RAM, 20Gb hard drive, and a 16Mb Nvidia GeForce II...

The only problem I've had with it is the shitty-ass video card. My suggestion is to get the best possible video card you can in it (no matter the cost), as you cannot replace the video card at any later date. The upgradability of laptops is still shit, but other than that, I think they're great.

I have a sotec laptop from walmart. great little thing was like $700 which was like half of the toshiba equivlent at the time. I suggest you check out sotec. I have been carrying it around in my backpack for school for almost a year and havn't had any problems what so ever. I reccomend!

The ones I'm familiar with are more from Taiwan and primarily involve Asus N2400M, etc...

Just go Centrino 1.4-1.6Ghz at the very least and the rest will follow...
