Been wondering about the LCC MOTD for the longest time now...

LOL, it invokes a rhetorical middle-octave "WTH?!1! What the - knows what that means??" each time I see it. Tongue-in-cheek?
A deliberate and deserved effect, no doubt, actually accented somehow by the solemn and authoritarian-looking textual flourish when compared to other MOTDs.

But wanted to say that it also always makes me think of the saying: "Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer".

What about you? For the people who've been around, has a newcomer actually inquired about it?

Droll, with a hint of frenzy.
Personally not a big fan of MOTDs that 'stick' in your face for a long while; like walking through a spiderweb and having it blind or something...

Designed to intimidate, perhaps...but made me wonder instead...
Whatever the effect, they need to code an AUTO-NOFUN-KICKER, because their AUTOLAGKICKER certainly allowed me to strut around with a 500+ ping for the next 5 minutes.

And remember: "YOU MUST HAVE FUN"

The only part about the LCC MOTD that I've seen people have had a question about is "WTF is trough killing?"

I'm still curious as to which definition is being used here, seeing as our "trough" is neither a feeding bin for animals, or is it a depressed area of any sort, being rather more elevated then not...



As for the enemies over friends bit, never seen any question over it, but I've always taken that to either mean either it's best to fight on your own ("OMG WTF TEAMERS??!")... or that it's better to fight, kill, own, and run off people like Shady and those of his ilk rather to beat up on your friends or weaker fighters. You've gained nothing by killing a friend or good loser who still says "gf" after being killed twenty times in a row, but when you get someone all pissed and crying "OMG F*CKIN AIMBOT user!!1! Scripter! lamer! chester!" at you, ahhh... then you've won the battle....

LOL, the frenzied feeding and mad rush at times to finish gobbling those mushrooms is a perfect way of describing the behaviour in that area.
That plus the jealous attitude certain people have towards those who are occupying that area of the arena gives rise to the impression that behaviour at the 'trough' profoundly resembles our porcine friends, and not whatever sapientic concept of 'honour'...
And when you see two or more virtual avatars feeding simultaneously in a weirdly competitive rush to heal-up before their counterparts, then the farmyard analogy becomes quite fitting.

Oh yeah, "IMHO" et al...

Interesting, though I think in FFA I'm more into wildly flailing around after the members, who are in turn pursuing strangers...

If i see someone new on the server breaking rules, i usually take time to explain to them that this server has a few rules. The greeting just confuses the shit out of me and every other half retarded person who logs on to the server.

Also true, for all my theories about the MOTD, most of the time I DO much prefer slaying my friends then random helpless newbies... strange way of showing affection and favor perhaps, but there you have it. More of a challenge usually, you also know their style of fighting, and most o' them have a sense of humor and won't mind my idiosyncrasies...

Though if there is a partilurly skilled or malevolent noob in there, they'll become Prime Target Number One, and my theory comes into play. Almost sad that there's so few of them nowadays...

I pretty much gravitated to LCC because of the whole intro message. It is as I does ...so to speak.
Such as I try to be anyways .

I don't think that there's any sort of lack of them whatever.
