Farewell, Shady
Shady has recently been quoted as saying "we have no talent here at LCA"; he has, in addition, been actively recruited by RoV.

If he's thinking of jumping, I'll be the first to push him off the ship.

1) I disagree, or
2) I concur.NayYay

Don't wait for him to jump, tie him up and throw him overboard.

On that note, we need someone to take Shady's spot on the members wall, Vidar seems like a good candidate.

At least half-circus, yes.

You do understand, however, Shades, that a creator's affection for his project is not unlike a parental affection; any disparagement thereof, therefore, will be met with a particular parent-like protectivism.

There are particular matters of vanity and small pride which are, unfortunately, off-limits; Lear's fool had learned well the boundaries of Lear's pride.

Certainly not to me.

Your clarification has no potency here; you have o'er-reached the legitimacy of command and the juristiction of will.

So someone can harass others unnecessarily, belittle some of your longest standing and respected members (Wintermoon), and generally disobey server rules without any repercussions (unless they do so completely incoherently, like Sabih)... but if they speak poorly of LCA itself, it's completely unacceptable? The server may be your brainchild, but shouldn’t the plight of your constituents be of a higher priority?

Also, I don’t see the point in having a vote on the issue if it’s obviously an authoritarian regime. You decided to elect him to membership despite the higher proportion of “Nay” votes to those of “Yay,” and I have a feeling you’d demote him to Peregrine regardless of what the voters decide.

I’m not saying the system is wrong by any means, since it’s your club and you should be the deciding factor in all decisions. What I am saying is: either base your decision on what your constituents decide, or don’t put up an opinion pull. If you’re worried about the statistical accuracy of the voting outcome, why not make a “Members” forum in which only members may partake?

Whereas Members have mouths, and can speak - nay must speak - on their own behalf, the fruits of labour have no such benefit; the Creator is therefore called upon as advocate.

The decision to invoke Shady's process was indeed largely motivated by his history of member abuse; had your opinion not counted, I could have as easily not consulted your ass.

I'm not sure what you're after, frankly, if not to air your liberal gall of ressentiment.

That wasn't readily apparent to me, it certainly is not inherent in:

If he's thinking of jumping, I'll be the first to push him off the ship.

If I had known that his penchant for member abuse was also a factor, I would not have posted. I felt that my opinion did not count, and thus wondered why you felt the necessity to ask for the member’s deliberation on this matter. The disparity has now been rectified.

Shady is herewith on probation; subject to immediate demotion without notice.

The arguments for and against are stewing with passion and must simmer.
