Maybe put it all together in a thread in the member's zone ( as most stuff applies to members only ) and for each new member link to that thread in their welcome post...>

sounds good. I don't know how you want to organize it but I'm thinking once you click into the Tutorials section you'd have a list similar to the members section. Clicking each command would bring the Tut up to the right while keeping the list of links to the left.

Here's my first; On votekicking:



Title: Votekicking

All members and non-members can use the votekick command. Votekicking is a way for all players to "self-police" the server. In order for a votekick to be successful, a majority of the players on the server have to enter the command to remove the rogue, (or idle), player.

The command: votekick #





Let's say you wanted to kick Manowar. In this game he is number 7. So in the command line you would type "Votekick 7"

If anyone else wanted to kick him they'd have to type the same thing.

In the example below, Gnath, NuTT98 and Taurus would have to type "votekick 7" to remove him. (It doesn't have to be a unanimous decision like in this case. If the server had 5 people, only 3 have to votekick. It's just done by a simple majority.)

Title: Kicking (in game)

Kicking is a command that can only be done by members. You have to be logged into the server for it to work, it will not work if you're still "anonymous" or are using a different handle on the server. You cannot kick a fellow member either.

The command: Kick #





In the situation above, if Taurus is acting out of line you would kick him by entering the command "Kick 2". There is no voting here, this is just a straight kick.

Don't forget that this command should be used with the utmost care. It doesn't make us tyrannical dictators. We don't kick because someone is better than us or winning. We don't kick because someone is using too many Runes. And we don't kick for personal reasons!

excellent job manowar. appreciate seeing this posted. It will highlight all concerns and inquiries about how the server is controlled to newbies and the inquiring.

Title: Authentification

As members, we log into the server when we enter. There are a couple of reasons for this:

• Nobody can impersonate you. (it's happened)
  
• To be able to do "member only" commands
  
• To collect stats for our soon to be implemented ladder software
  
• Any other future reasons
  

In your user.ini file, located in c:\rune\system, add the following lines under the categories shown below:

[DefaultPlayer]
.
.
.
password=xxxxxxx


where "password=xxxxxxx" is your password for lowcaliber.com. In addition edit the following line:

[Engine.PlayerPawn]
.
.
.
password=xxxxxxx


Due to certain limitations in Rune, the server may yet fail to recognize you automatically. If that's the case, issue the "pLogin" command. The pLogin command has three parts which you should issue in the following order, try:

1) "pLogin" by itself; if this doesn't work try
2) "pLogin + password"; if this still doesn't work try
3) "pLogin + username + password" as a last resort.

At the very worst, you may have to bind a key to issue pLogin when you get on the server; we're working on the automatic authentication process but we believe we've encountered some native limitations in the Rune code. (See "Authentification fix") <-- link that to the Authentification Fix Tut

Title: Authentification "Fix"

There is a way to avoid using the "plogin" command or any of the others when you enter the server. You've probably noticed that you have to "plogin" every time the game restarts.

If you enter the server from the web, you won't have to login immediately. Nor will you have to re-login everytime the game restarts. There are currently two ways to enter from the web, just check the picture.

Title: Nosafe command

Nosafe is a command that can only be done by members. You have to be logged into the server for it to work, it will not work if you're still "anonymous" or are using a different handle on the server. You cannot nosafe a fellow member either.

The purpose of nosafe and what it does:

It happens all the time; you're dueling someone and all of a sudden they run for the atrium so they can get their mead and safely heal. It's quite satisfying to smote that enemy to the ground before he makes it to the door. Unfortunately, you can't always get them.

What this command allows you to do is "expose" the player in the atrium, allowing you to kill him just when he thinks he's safe. Be forewarned, trough kill rules still apply in the atrium, so make sure you get him between drinks.

The command: Nosafe #





In the situation above, if Taurus was running away you would enter the command "Nosafe 2".

Don't forget to use much care with this command. It is not intended to punish or torment players.

Title: Ventrilo

Ventrilo is our very own voice chat server. If you've got a microphone and speakers you can use this program. You don't have to be a member to use Ventrilo, it's open to the public.

You can download the file here. After installation use the following params to connect to the server:

Password: lcc
IP: 66.151.180.7
Port: 3814

You might have to do some tweaking of the program settings to suit your machine. We can try to help if you're having troubles, so feel free to ask.

Be courteous to others while using the program, try to cut down on the background noise and don't use a mic that records every sound, everyone else gets your feedback.

Title: IRC

We have our own channel on quakenet. The quickest shortcut in is to enter from the site.



If it doesn't immediately take you into the channel just type "/join #lowcaliber" (no quotes) and you'll get right in.

You can learn some very basic IRC commands here if you're new to it.

I need to do one for kicking from the web but nobody's on right now so I can't take a picture to use as an example.

If the server is full and you want to play, you have the ability to kick from the web so you can play. (Hey, it's your right as a member.)

If the server was full and you decided you wanted in and that Muggy was going to be the sacrificial lamb, then you'd type "kick 2" in the chat bar, hit 'post' and that player will be kicked.

Remember to use this with care too. It's usually not a good idea to kick regulars, even if they aren't members, we don't want to chase them away. It's best used on Ragnars and people we've never heard of. The best thing to do is first ask if anyone's willing to give up their spot in the server. If not, ask a member that's playing who's expendable and take it from there. Don't kick anyone from the web for personal or any other reasons!

i just got back from an arena match and my 50 metre weapon hadn't yet...shrunk...down



ermm...sometimes the side bar updates real slow and when ingame sometimes i don't even see the messages posted by "anonymous" partly cos its this light blue text and partly cos i'm in battle...any other way insiders-outsiders communicate? its real good anyway, more consideration and better than other servers by all means...

i'm not so sure any other rune web site can communicate with the server like we do.
