This is not so much a mod idea but....
How hard to incorporate the players rank under the players name, like right under minor/member or some such?
Easy reference for the curious and would make the rank more noticable to new and old alike.

Fascinating idea, Fist; we've been planning some individual stat pages which will show a history of the player's performance, and some various charts and graphs.  That should allow us to integrate more fully with the site; I'll be able to get down to bizwack on that mug as soon as I'm back in Germany next week or so.

I was chatting with mano about it, and we were thinking that it would be nice to just alter the map with a portal or something that leads to an identical map, but one that has headball, skolf, and medium/high cal. It would be fun to have all of em on the same map, and also a shame to lose any of our current ones. His main concern was the map file size for downloads.
Just wondering your take on that, and if such a project might be workable sometime in the future?

To elaborate on it some, the attachment is how I envisioned everything to look. One map.. both parts looking identical, just with different functions.

Team FFA sounds great, but may not be do-able. With any team game, we'd probably need to institute a member command that forces team changes. Similar to Barbarian Druids addition to Critter Kick.

Or we could have a second server with these gametypes.

Just tossing some ideas out there

I like the two-server idea, here's one I came up with, Minus the Team DeathMatch...

So, in terms of the six game consensus, were you guys thinking FFA, 1on1, Boxing; Team FFA, Headball, Mace or Skolf, Headball, Mace?

Should we endeavor to come up with an alternative to boxing?

I sort of want to see a medium to high cal area if possible to test out some of those skills against you guys. I would probly go for medium over high. Actually all I want is a broadsword Razz - even if it is without a battleshield. Just want to fight against you guys, see if I am still any good at it from my rings of honor/ highlander clan days.
But I say we keep our existing things and add skolf, team FFA mace wars and the med cal. As for boxing, I don't personally play it that much anymore. I would probly rather see headball there.... or we could switch the one on one and the current boxing arena. I think you would need more room for HB than 1 on 1.

edit:
Also even though it would mean a larger file size etc I think it would be good to have the stuff on the same server. Have it by teleports, secret passage, or hole in the floor it would just be better to have it on one server. I always am missing out on skolf games becuase I am busy on the arena server. It would be nice to say, hey, you guys up for some HB/team FFA/skolf/whatever? and then just run over to a different arena instead of having to change servers or something

My only worry, Socket, is that n00bs will congregate in a high/med cal arena.

I'll have to summon trees to block the door quite often. Wink

Oh! Be sure that they are on the correct side of the door before doing that. That is, inside the high caliber arena.

If you would make a high-cal place, make sure you crank up the gravity so they can't get off the ground... Razz

Maybe it'd actually be a bit of fun if they weren't jump-swinging with large hammers at me head... hmmm...

Great idea! No more players grabbing their Battle Axes or Hammers, jumping in the air, and ignoring so many mean and rude comments directed to them! Thumbs Up

I like the idea of a Medium or High Cal, but I would most likely stay away when those cheap players are there.
Holy ShitIt would be interesting to see how cranking up the gravity would make some of those player react!

Why not just try to set up a time where you and someone else goes over to a different server to play high cal? I'd be willing to go to an arena server with ya. Introducing those damn one-hit-killers to the Low Caliber environment only means trouble.

Also, I doubt the all-in-one map idea is very feasible, as it wouldn't just affect the file size, it would also cause a lot of lag.

As an alternative, however, I was thinking that since it is possible for us to read messages happening in-game from the web and vise versa, would it be possible to relay messages from one server to another? Even if it's a 3rd party script doing it, I think that might be doable.

Honestly, just looking back at Cycle, and having low cal's popularity in mind:

I'd say the new gametype would need to be integrated with the present arena, and not separate. But then again, we're not really worried about the average Rune crowd biting the bait, right?

I'm not hugely biased towards one modality or another; it's the company more often than anything else.
