MOC's own Mayhem told me about this game about 10 minutes before I went to work today. I didn't get a chance to try it out before but the idea was genius. Multiplayer online lego-building! So I got it after work and it kicks ass! There's a ton of servers up (but who cares, I like it play with known folks more) which means it is popular and I don't think I even needed to take down my firewall to host it (some dude joined and left when I set up a server for a second so yeah).

Anyway its a very nice looking game, I play at max settings (has a surprising amount of settings...) such as 32x anisotropic filtering and 1600x1200 (and I still get 280fps, so most of you should definitely put on 32x anisotropic filtering, no more ugly texture blurring and distance clipping that way). The game looks damn good (for a Lego game... and lego doesn't have to look like Half-Life 2 to look "real"). You move like a regular FPS and spout blocks the same too... you use numpad to move the block around and numpad enter key to place the block. There's jetpacks to fly up for building, you CAN die if you fall off something high and forget your jetpack (its funny when people die!) and the players can be edited and lots of other cool stuff. There's spray guns and hammers to paint or destroy any object. Hell in the slopes mountain level you can use skis to get to places so you can explore instead of just build (the level is also beyond expectations, friggin' huge and fun to ski in once you get the hang of it... though wiping out looks cool and is fun as well). There's too many cool things to list.

Blockland isn't your typical freeware game, it is built on the Torque engine (a handmade one, I'm sure) and the gui and game itself look and play awesomely compared to what I expected. Trust me, just get it... it kicks everything and I didn't even get to start building stuff yet.

P.S. Whatcha think of a 6-man dedicated server, Mano? That won't lag up any of our servers I'm sure (since it is such a simple game, though likely somewhat complex in netcode considering the early release), if so we can just do 4-man (though I hope more than 4 people want to play!). Maybe I'll post screenshots when I can, but they're so big .

This game is fucking cute.

I built myself a dark throne in a dark fortress on the desk with a dark annex that went to the lamp and up inside it in a dark spiral staircase. It is dark.

They need something like this for HL2 where one team builds a castle and the other one assults it, then switch to see who has the better castle skills....
But looks fun-ish

I don't think you've explored enough, mwahaha. In the bedroom map...smash the window..and fly out..you'll something outside that might be of use. Theres three spots available for building, you can build fortresses and assault, lol

Yeah I havn't played it at all yet. Can you even kill each other or is it just building?

I said this before, I did not contribute to the creation of aforementioned penis. I merely put windows blocking socks' way and sprayed it different colors.

And if you need FRAPS 2.5.x Retail which'll let you save images as JPEGs rather than BMPs by default... I should give you itt... so no stupid crap like that happens again.

Wow... we have a blockland server now!?

Man I havn't even tried this yet. Been slammed busy this week. Got my new rig all up and going but havn't had a chance to install anymore than a browser and photoshop pretty much.

If you guys need a good icon for Blockland (since it doesn't already have one), I just decided to use the DEFRAG icon from the default Windows system icon set.

Mano made his own but I thought this is a much better idea (it looks awesome!). Turns out Socks was already using it before me but hey. Here's a screenshot of the example... the icon is found in the default set when you first try to change the icon so there's no searching through files for this.
