It brings disgusting mental pictures to my mind unbidden, and I don't think that anything should be allowed under the sacred name of free speech. I fully understand why people would not want to kick him in principle, but could there not be a rule that states that players must change names containing obscenity if asked to, or be kicked?

From what I hear this I_drink_period_blood fella was fighting well and abiding by the rules. I'll check the chatlogs when I get a chance to see if he was saying offensive things, but I heard that he wasn't.

Yes, that was one of the sickest names that I've ever saw but he obviously was doing it to get a reaction out of people, seems it worked.

To enforce people to change names is tyrannical, and besides, us members, minors and regular peregrines aren't the only ones to check this forum. So disallowing these names will only encourage an army of them.

I admit I'm easily offended... and I don't think there's anything wrong in that. I don't see why people should get offended at me for getting offended at offensive things.

The majority of forums I've gone to have censored words and names... never seen it as a major problem. People find ways around it, but I've never seen anyone complain about it.

Those who purposefully make themselves offensive deserved to have their butt kicked, in my opinion... but yes, it is a free country. We all have different opinions, and we should be able to live with it.

I don't think anyone here was trying to force their opinion on others; a poll was started and people simply replied. I see myself as a guest on this server, and if the general consensus of the members and regulars is that censorship is not wanted, I won't have a problem with that. But I reserve the right to get offended at disgusting names, and I'll simply avoid them. I see nothing immature in that, as some of these comments have indicated.

On a serious note:

I was in the Arena with I_drink_period_blood. Yes the name was offensive, yet I voted no and I refused to
vote-kick him on the basis of his name. I never once in the four games that I was in with him saw him chat kill or trough kill anyone who hadn't done it to him first. Yes, he did chat kill on the floor of the FFA arena, but to chat there is a risk you have to take. Some people will abide and others will not. If you want safe chatting move to the atrium. The club is here to promote fairness and equality based on how we behave not on what we choose to name ourselves. To begin to censor some on a name will only lead to greater wrongs. What will be next maybe hair color or the color of their eyes. How about DISCRIMINATING based on race or religion? Remember our history not as the club but as Man. Nothing good comes from that behavior. Bigotry goes hand in hand with censorship and eventually it's something that is out of control.

Sad part was, while playing in there with I_drink... the only ones to use profanity, who were abusive, who chat killed and trough killed were members and minors. People come to our server usually with the wool of naivity over their eyes. They don't realize that an internet community can be close knit and respect each other regardless of who they are. If they come to our server and see that kind of behavior from us, who are there to promote our constitution, why should they believe the ideals that the club is based on? It's our job to show them that.
