Now it's MY fault I get hit... it's easy enough to dodge when facing the person throwing (figure relative speed of person prior to releasing weapon, calculate the trajectory, allow for wind resistance, etc....) but when you're busy whacking your way through another guy, t'is hard to dodge something you don't know is coming from behind...

But such is the fun of a free-for-all...

you should see it when two people bounce each other apart with rebounded weapons...now that's fun and weird...

Yeah, maybe I need to practice throwing things, not too good at judging the right angle and whatnot...

Also am never sure when it's okay to throw/hack at people... most is common sense, but it's always hard to judge when it's okay to jump in and start hacking, or when to wait for two people to stop fighting... I figure it's not polite to sneak up behind and kill one (or both) of a pair of dualers... but then again, free for all, and people do it to me... stealing the kill when the person is battered down to low health...

Maybe I'm just too polite.

well, you raise an interesting point of ETIQUETTE...

but thats why the 1v1 arena exist, for those wishing to engage in courtly fencing and honourable duels without interference...

as for free-for-all, thats exactly it...do whatever you like...heck i was once anally retentive about chasing down those who ran away mid-fight, but now i see it more like a challenge, where if they get to the trough, fine, there's always more people to fight...and if they do this repeatedly and abuse rune-power, i take a cue from the great Mr_Fister, and go chill in the 1v1 arena, or even get some much-needed boxing practice in...

as for so-called "stealing" kills, i beg to differ: there is no such thing as owning a kill...if you couldnt finish them off, you never deserved the so-called kill...i hope i make sense there...

another thing: its meant to be fun, not school drudgery so be happy to mob and have hilarious fun whacking and throwing at people virtually than stand on false chivalry and constraints...


besides, if we see you around in the servers enough, and vice-versa, you'd know we not little kids chucking ape-sh*t if something doesnt go our way, hehe...

Nothing about not being able to finish it, it's having someone else sneak up behind and backstab in the middle of a fight... technically "legal" I suppose but downright dirty anyhow.

I know that not everyone sees things this way, some just want to have uncomplicated fun, and perhaps some even get more fun out of trough-killing and running away mid-fight... but hey, I think it's more fun to play honorably and win by skill... not that I have too much of that.

So me thinks I'll just take my little code of etiquette, and sit over here in the one-on-one... (and even there not everyone plays fair!)

Though I think I will learn to throw weapons straight...

well, you'll see some people hanging back a bit...usually if its not someone i know too well, i hang around the gong waiting for the next fresh person, or only retaliate if they decide to attack me first...

dunno, honour is such a tricky word and concept to toss around at times, i apologise for doing so a bit too chaotically...i guess just give respect and hope people reciprocate...
or alternatively, only play with those you know are good about such things...
lol, or sulk in the 1v1 arena and miss the party a bit...or fight with your back to the mushrooms...

its the thrill of battling to "the last drop" as per the message of the the day you see at the start...thats why ffas are fun, and yes, it might seem mindless beserking , but its kinda addictive, hmm?

i think unter made this clear elsewhere: that this place is a public service of sorts and as such, will inevitably reflect the very population of rune gamers and their habits and behaviour...though the line has to be drawn at outright flaming and cheating, i guess, or anarchy ensues...

Ah well, I do like running into a free-for-all with about five other people and just wildly swinging a sword in a berserker sort of fashion... axes, dunno, I perfer swords... generally only arm myself with the two swords, so I'm a sitting duck if I get disarmed twice...

That's probably what I'll do, once I get to know a few more people... so far, I only can think of around three or four people I really like fighting with... always looking for more...

My rules for the FFA arena are simple.

-I never head for mushrooms unless I clear the entire room. (I only run to the atrium after five in a row to get my mace. )

-Don't kill people on the ledges or chatting in the ring unless they piss me off.

That's it, if I see two people dueling in the ffa ring I just charge them. I don't know what their health is like so I can't really knowingly pick the guy that's almost dead.

And I don't play favorites, I throw at and kill anyone I see.

I'll head for mushrooms if I've finished a fight or cleared out a group, though there might be people at the far end of the arena. So far, no problems with that, though if people start howling at me I won't continue that...

Amen to that, today I got trough-killed six or seven times within an hour or two, crucified five of 'em, though... worth it, then!


I prefer to fight people I know... rather fight Rhoedd then Anonymous101... I know their styles, and know they won't start swearing at me if I kill them (hopefully), etc... though if I don't know anyone, will kill indiscriminately...

Funny thing is I don't mind if people head for the mushrooms, (unless they turn around mid-fight and head for them), it's fun to try and kill them first.
