LOL, it's been pretty good so far...

I'm staying near a large hospital in Kaohsiung, which is in the south; Australia and Taiwan both have about 20 million population but Taiwan is about 1/3 the size of Tasmania...

jeez it's a crowded place for a country bumpkin like me...mega-storeyed buildings everywhere...
but so convenient!! food, accommodations, entertainment..

I'm getting somewhat luxurious treatment on account of my being from overseas...all meretricious I assure you...but the hospital I'm clerking at is pretty good to me, hehe..

Yessiree, I'm a rarity so I'm getting red carpet treatment...

Doing a neurology rotation at the moment, 7am-3pm kinda days, Mon-Sat, cable TV to rot my mind the rest of the time...

At the moment negotiating some net time, HAHA!

Pity the game server is being converted; I'm curious about how this setup I'm using is going to fare, ping and flag-wise.

I imagine that indistinct manifold (the sights; the sounds!) will give way to a discrete set of homely things you've eked out for yourself: spots, haunts, people.

There's a internet cafe setup just down the road, supposedly 24-hours, lol. I'll check it out eventually..

Hmm I've sort of arrived at a off-peak season for other local students, so I'm bemoaning the lack of "l'il kids" my age to play with, but, oh well, the hospital staff is pretty friendly.

And, hehe, Taiwan is GMT+8, same as Perth, if you're inclined to introduce an Eastern element to the forum...

I'm struggling to prevent myself de-evolving this into a diary or blog *shivers* but anyhow:

One thing I've noticed is the lack of personal space, LOL.
In Australia, whether elevators, public facilities, etc, it might be at least 1-2 metres.
Here it's definitely "comfortable" <1 metre. *gulp*

Widely paranoid about SARS and cuddles those surgical masks like gold.

High-rises not as worrying as before. Nor piddly earthquakes. Nor the constant barrage of crimes and murders on the unavoidable news.

Election craze getting to me though; want to audit someone's personal finances really badly, for some reason.

Hmmm, still patronised like a dodo, or Tasmanian tiger. N.B. may be idolised on occasion. Anyhow despite average height of 5'11, still getting weird Gulliver moments amongst Lilliputian appliances.

Feeling woozy because haven't sucked in a breath of non-carbon-monoxidised air. Haven't seen blue sky in some weeks too.

On the plus side; having a ironically meditative time amongst the cacophony of sounds and smells (mostly bad). Now contemplating neurology as a future specialty; the parallels to circuits and logical computer hardware intriguingly alluring. Deems self to be slightly more mature and professionally comfortable.

Chinese New Year coming up; apparently my year (monkey) coming up.
About 1 month till return to Sydney...see most of you back in arena then.
