Well, I am sure you all have heard the great news. Saddam has finally been captured. Big Grin The little bastard was hiding in a hole! Can you believe that??? He tells his people to go off and blow themselves up to kill us, but he won't do the same when our forces are coming down on him and he knew it.I hope that reality is a smack in the face to those who were so loyal to him. He doesn't give a shit about them, he is a coward and his days are over.
That is how I feel about it anyway, any other comments or opinions on the situation? I am curious to see if there are any of us who feel different or even annoyed by it.

Well, it's very good that they finally got the mother fucker, but it's a bummer that half of Iraq was blown away in order to do so. I still think that a Specops group could have done the same damn thing with a lot less collateral damage. Cut off the head and the serpent dies.

I agree 100%. Special OPs could have done both Saddam and Osomo (however the hell you spell it) in and made things easier for all, but it seems to be our way to just go in and blow up every mountian, forest, beach, or city we 'think' the enemy is hiding out in. Sad thing, but atleast we got a break for once and without a shot being fired. Thumbs Up

Another thought though, how many here were for or against the US going into Iraq and how do you feel about this new outcome?

Man am I PISSED!!!!! I can't believe those bastards got So-Damn Insane!!! I had great plans for the reward money I was gonna get for bringing him in myself!!! OMFG!!!!1!1!
On a serious note I also think that a lot less resources could have been expended to get Saddam, but the War in Iraq wasn't really about Saddam at all. You can't take over a country and steal it's oil with just a SpecOp team. Saddam had to go = yes..... the U.S. had to invade the country he was in = no Frown .

That gung-ho cowboy American attitude is the reason the middle east (and soon, the rest of the world) want us all dead. You have to consider culture/beliefs on their side of things. If the nazis had won world war 2, we'd all be thinking veeeeery differently in this country, and it wouldn't seem strange to you or I, raised under that regime. What's the difference between a suicide bomber and a soldier?

Nothing; it's just a type of soldier.

Also, Saddam wasn't leading the resistance. He was just... in a hole. It makes me sick to think about how much money we spent to pull an old man out of a hole just for the political masturbation Bush can spatter all over the media and the international community.

I'm glad he's caught. But there are a LOT of bad people in this world, and if we spent that much money chasing down already-dethroned dictators each time, we'd go broke. We did a real shoddy job this time. And we didn't even get to underhandedly secure the oil. Frown

Wow, this is the kind of reply I was hoping for. I guess you have a point with their suicide bombers being just another type of soldier to them, and I know we would think very differently if we were raised under another rule, but don't you think that Saddam and his sadistic family were a problem that had to be dealt with? I think that he has been sapping that country for money and taking sucker punches at anyone he can and get away with it. It was just a matter of time before we got pissed and decided to do something about it.

Sometimes I don't think we should be involving ourselves with another countries affairs, but it sicked me to hear about some of the things that went on over there. Sure, no doubt some of it was our nation's propaganda to justify the cause, but I am sure most of it had its roots in truth.

We are a little "gung-ho" though, we have proven that over and over and I doubt it will ever change

Well I'm glad he's caught and done for. Wonder if we're going to see a bit of "mob justice" once the people of Iraq judge him.

If he hadn't been relentlessly pursued and chased, he would have just waited his time and then returned to power. I'm glad we didn't take pity on this poor lil' ol' man and leave him in peace. Sarcasm

I see a hell of a lot of difference between a trained and honorable soldier and a suicidal bomber. Sure, civilians on both sides will be killed in a war, but there is a difference between accidental causulties and the purposeful blowing up of a crowd of women and children, which seems to be the suicide bombers prefered choice.

I tend to agree with Rho, though. Too bad the US doesn't have a supply of good hitmen in stock. Would save both sides a lot of waste.

Heh, you have a point too. There are some pretty messed up people in our own country with a bit more power then then should have, but I don't think they are commiting some of the atrocities that he did are they...? Atleast not that we may know about Eek

Well, Revs opinion sums my idea of it up, as best as it can get. I'm a great suporter and believer in the american people, even as I'm German. I often get crazy when I hear that shit, about americans are always the dickheads with guns, who like to kill each other, but yeah somehow, the time went crazy and that idiot Bush is the leader of the stupid men!

But we need to say, he's not the only one, I guess each contry in the world has at least one and the difference is only, that the USA has so much power over the world. For me, catching Saddam is just a footnote in history, because I didn't believe, that he had any real controll over iraque after he fled.

The world will never really address to the real problems of the world. We are too busy to kill us, instead of working together on ideas. Always it's competiton one way or the other. Too many people would try to be the first and noeone really cares for the last.

I don't think, that you can always do it, but so many times, we never even think about that. Now they wanna make a democratic iraque and they began to start from the false point, because they never cared for the kids, the mothers and fathers.

How often did they see the humans, not just the titles and ranks and social levels? I mean this is only directed at the idotoic politicians, who work on their idol crafting, idiotic policies and so on... I was amazed about the people who demonstrated! I was amazed and grateful for the guys and girls who actually went up there to show their opinion. Even as they got used by shameless politicans Frown

Even as he's captured, the evil doer, bastard... this is only one step to a better world and the cost of it, is argueable...
