Nobody's saying that you cannot become a member once again. You have been well behaved and you bringing us L was nice of you.

What we're saying is that exchanging LCC membership for L ownership isn't what we're going to do.

Giving us the L really helps your chances of getting back into LCC. Asking us to trade L ownership for member status really hurts your chances.

Mano hit it on the head; membership is not to be bartered for.  It's based on character-value; and character-value doesn't change overnight.

You're born with (or without) character-value, I believe.  The main question here: do Obie's genes match up to a membership? It's difficult to barter with genes.
