Considerations for a Tournament

Ok guys, I'm thinking these days about a possible way to held this tournament. Here I will tell you, what I have in mind, and we can discuss this. Please only on-topic discussion -- because this is important for me.

Ok, here we go ...

In my sparetime, I play Billard in a club, and there we have also little intern tournaments. So I came up with the idea, of making a ladder, because only this way, we can make a tournament for all possible. Remember, the population of the server is numbered and so we need to find a way.

Here's my idea:

We will make at least two groups:

One is the "Winner group", the other the "Lost group". Wait a little, I explain further, what that means. Well, I thought about the following system.

If the number of attendants is clear, we will make a list of all and determine the fighting order via a dice -- at least it will be fully random. Than, when we have the list,we make the fighter-couples... For instance Imp versus Wintermoon... Than when I lose (and I certainly will), I go in the pool of the LOST-Group. I would recommend, to make at least a duell, with which the winner will be determined, by winning 3 fights.

EXAMPLE: Imp vs Winter: 3 / 1 or other possible figure: 3/2...

The winner goes in the Winner - group, which is quite obvious.

So when we have a winner group and the lost group through the duells, the guys in the lost group will fight against each other and the winners against the members of the winner group. So we could determine a champion. Every duells, that is one, will give you 3 credits. So im in this example will have after his fight against me, 3 Credits and I will have none. When I fight in the loser goup and win there my first duell against someone (after 3 fights), I will get 2 credits and can fight the next. The oponent, I beat will not recieve a point and is out of the tournament.

Hope that is understandable. What do you think about this? What ideas do you have, to support this tournament type? Maybe Unter can somehow make a part on the map, where you can read the winners and the actual champions. We could try to hold that tournament every month.

But there are certain probs, like the number of players on the server and the timezones.

So, we have a general idea, now we should think about it...

Hey Winter,

I think ur on the right track. The winner/ losers brackets works fine in any kind of tourney. I also like the idea of best two out of three. It allows for more certainty of the victor.

As for the time zone differences that shouldn't be a problem. All the matches should be posted( who vs. who), then they have a certain time frame to to duel. Since we all fight with honor, they should be able to tell us the outcome. At this point it would be easy to see who fights who next.

Thats a good suggestion. But we shoudl consider to password the server, so nobody can interferer in the match. you know, form time to time some lamers come up and destroy any possible way to do a duell.
