Hey all...heres something i was sitting around one day and came up with, it may sound stupid but always wondered if ne one else thought about this for the video game world.

*How did everyone come up with there online name? Like what did you see or maybe think of that made you choose your Call Sign?*

For me my online name came from the movie "ERASER" w/ Arnold Schwazzernegger...and i mean whats cooler than after killing someone to be able to say "You have been ERASED!"

So this is my name for all the video games i play, what about the rest of you?

If I told you I'd have to kill you . . . cuz I'm too paranoid. But other names I use for online games come from my love of fantasy usually.

Also some are from being up at 4 in the morning LAN partying with friends . . . such as my Day of Defeat Club tagged ~D-D~ (Diet Donut) My name for that club is ~D-D~ Made w/all natural TOFU my co-founders name is ~D-D~ Made with Xanthan Gum.

I was playing the very first Baldur's Gate at the time, and I needed a good mage name. So I opened up the dictionary to a random page and picked the coolest looking word on it.

It's stuck since then.

Strangely enough, my sorcerer's name was Ministration and my cleric's name was Enigma.

Ragnar Yellow Hair was the name of a Viking king from a book...

Eirik is a common Viking (Norse) name; a variation of Erik.

Gunnar is a name from a book; also a fairly common Viking name.

Aelle was a barbarian Saecsen warlord.

Munin is one of Odin's two messenger ravens... his name means "Memory." (ironically enough, I tend to forget that...)

Freya is the Norse goddess of love, magic, and fertility.

Ygerna comes from legends of King Arthur and Celtic folklore; she was the mother of Arthur.

Bluebeard is from a folktale; he was a man who had a habit of marrying pretty women, murdering them, and keeping their bodies in a closet. (don't ask me why I use this name, I think I just made an association with him from the "de-wiving" process)

Lalaith (which is my online pseudonyme) comes from Tolkien's book Silmarillion; she was a human child whose name meant Laughter... died at age three.

Other than some Half Life a while back, I never really played online games. Before Rune I played SSX Tricky or Madden on the PS2, lol.

Most people think I named myself after the Portuguese Man-of-War, but no I'm not that cool. Ya see, there's this shit metal band called ManOwaR. Manowar has songs about Valhalla, Odin et cetera.

I figured it was a fitting name for a game about vikings.

Krackhead Came from my nickname Crackhead from highschool.And the K from Krackhead is from my first name Karl.

Mines from a movie, heh. Samurai X or the TV anime seris.

well i've had a simple history of online gaming naming...

for the most part when i played quake3, cs, broodwar, jediknight2, diablo...
i used the handle "shaga" (ultra-corny austin powers phase that lasted 5 seconds).

since coming to rune, i've pretty much stuck with:
-Dante (as in Dante Alighieri; renaissance poet who penned 'The Divine Comedy'; he ventured through purgatory and domains of hell).
-danteER (as above with reference to my workplace).
-cRo!k3y!! (reference to my nationality).

...and too many spur-of-the-moment names that litter the stats board, as mano and unter can attest to i think...

Ok, Ok It is just my name spelled backwards, but it seemed to fit and it couldn't be any more original....
I am really glad this was brought up though, because I was pondering it just the other day.

I was also curious as to what a day in the life of each combatant was like. Just to enjoy the similiariteis and differences between our cultures and up-bringings. Please feel free to carry on this topic with that info.

Anyhow, my name comes from a book by the same guy who wrote the books in which Yellow Hair found most of her names. His name is Stephen R. Lawhead. Look into it. Or don't.

Hmmm, I always thought of your name as the Dante from Count of Monte Cristo... very nice, insane man he was...

I have used uncountible number of names , but my best were :

Dire Wolf : All time favorite that everyone I know calls me by, ''Dire''. Found it when looking into pre-historic beasts lol.

Kathal : Coming from ancient Irish Gaelic name Cathal (Koh-hal) meaning great warrior (Cath=battle Al=Great) I put the K on so it could be pronounced Kath-All.

Mystic : Simply coming from the Mystik skin on ... Rune.

Vociferous : Rather new name of around a mounth. Vociferous meaning a loud outcry in anger is the name I use with my Sark skin (and the name of my custom skin).

That's all i'll mention for now , there are around 40 more lol.

Well lets see my week involves Mon-Work, Eat, Rune, Sleep; Tue-Work, Eat, Rune, Sleep; Wed-etc, Thur-etc; Fri-etc; Sat& Sun- Be with my girlfriend...and in between all that sex and masturbation , hey we all gotta have a little variety!
