I ran Norton Anti-Virus on my computer. It took out approx. 400 viruses. It also took out chunks of my OS and every other program. I've lost over 100 gigabytes of games, programs, audio, and video files. My system is now back up, but I am severely crippled. Probably won't be on Rune for a while.

Were you going crazy downloading on programs like Kazaa?

If so, that's why I only use them for the occassional mp3.

Was told by Techies at my college to run anti-virus or they'd block my port. Everything worked fine until I ran the virus check. Lame.

Sounds like they had good reason to ask you to run nortain LOL . Which version of Nortain was it?

Latest Trialware. Half those viruses were mine . . . for me to use. And Norton didn't like me keeping my pets. Also, I noticed no difference in system performance before and after running norton. Besides nothing working right afterwards that is. They were 'friendly viruses' heheh.

hey szerdi sorry to hear about computer melt-down...if it makes you feel any better i have in the last 2 years rebooted mine 3 times, thats what happens when you have a boat load of heavy applications on it as well as games, kinda hits the cpu hard!

Rebooted; or reformatted?

I will tell you another task that screws your hardware good. RENDERING. Screws your hard drive, melts your CPU and cooks your RAM. But thats if you buy POS hardware. Keep in mind Windows Operating systems need to be "cleaned" (reformatted) every 8 months it seems. Even for people who don't use them that much. Always backup. You never know when a Crash, BSOD, Hardware Failure, Virus or Hack will happen.
