Greetings warriors..... I have an idea in creating the perfect low cal popularity boost. I once played a coop on rune it was loads of fun (if u didnt finished the game yet) anyway I propose that we all of us supporting low cal pitch in i creating a omline game community using runes engine i know it sounds like a long shot but imagine the possibiliteies!!. also i have a design for a a low cal "world" map that wont overload the server although it would require additional serverers to be put up if the community is a succesful and popular one. here the description. a player starts in the middle of the town of "Highland" were theres a tavern where plyers can chat and an area where u can load ur low cal map or create a brend new one (which i recommend)and a gate where the player can be go through into the wilderness area (which transports the player on another server) also out side the arena is a billbord which is updated it lists the current arena players and who is the top and Last. anyway to make things spicier from time to time we (if it happens) will conduct "special" events like a fortress is over run by goblins. players will go in groups and travel their via a boat in the dock where we will charge into and save the day. i know much work is needed but the possibility of starting our own game company through this is too much to ignore.

more power to low CAL........ (imagine the possibilities)

I have to say I like the idea, but I wonder how performance would be. It sounds like a very large map(s). Would the speacial events be automated or would the need to be organized? Would player have to earn weapons (i.e. starting with a hand axe and no shield)? I think the possibilities could be endless, only limited by the server. Yeah, I guess the server strain is the big question.

By the way, I just wanted to point out the legal side of this proposition. With reference to the last sentence in your pharagraph, there maybe some legal issues associated with the idea of starting a gaming company based on Rune. I see people run into this wall everyday. I might suggest forging a relationship with HumanHead in much the same way the CS and Half Life relationship works. I am not sure what LCC's relationship is like currently with HumanHead, but if you would like I can put you in touch with Tim G. Just my thoughts.

Sounds kinda like this. But like the guy suggesting it, the idea faded like a fart in the wind.

Agreed. However, I think there is some merit to the notion of a virtual Rune world. It would not have to be developed all at once. Instead, it could occur in modules or roll-outs. The world in seven days idea.....if you will. Granted there are some huge obstacles, but the challenge alone would be worth it. Just an idea.

Yes i am aware of the "legal side" in my idea but
we r not yet publicly calling the "new" game our own unless we have benn tried and tested that we could really make our mark in the gaming industry. im viewwing this as a sort of a "test" if we could create and manage our own game. if we r succesful then we should get "legal" and create a sort of partnership with human head i recently read a nartilcle in humanhead that they wont be doing a rune 2 any time soon so it occured to me that theyre unable to raise the level of rune style games. so in other words this could be an opportunity........ i ask anyone how many times have u seen a popular lan game or omline game with a fast paced but semi realsitic fun of rune today. imagine the speed of play of counterstrike combined with the fun of playing with a multitude of players while in an adventure or in vompetions like arena. theres only one thing stopping rune from really getting popular is the ff:

1. Story too linear no sense of freedom
2. Player Limitations one type of combo per weapon, players are bound with pre determined stats no sense of character development.
3. 2 graphics it getting old codes r a bit limited.
4. Weapons r too few.
5. movement is not complex enough.

Also the cons:

1. Gamaeplay fast enough for the adrenaline junky
2. Game real enough for the serious gamers aka loss of limbs
3. game engine renders graphics fast enough fo r smooth gameplay
4. the unreal engine theyre using is legaly available so the new unreal engine versions graphical ability and performance is increasing.
5. also finaly the game is "rare" sword fighting in online games is almost always limited to a single slash or command selection like clicking.

p.S

widowmaker ur question about the size of the map.... no i dont plan on crating a humungus map its more like a map 4 the village which contains only the gate, the arena, the tavern, and a n area for the optional "Clan Houses" houses which r officaila for in-house clans sumthin like weapon storage n other stuff. also the arean is not yet loaded unless the player goes through the "Entrance of the arena " then the player is teleported on a nother server. dame goes for the gate when the player exits the town he will then be trans ported to the wilderness map of the day.

and a few more if the games proves to be succesful and has a good chance of becoming the next game of the year. oh about the special events it will be planned by the members and is set in scheduled dates. games like protect the town for the goblin horde n other stuff. i thank u for the recognition i hope that others would like to support this idea.

oh and manowar it disappeared like a fart in the wind bec people just chose to ignore it what others chose to support. u should too who knows we might pull this off..........

More power to low cal Thumbs Up

Oh I support the idea fully, and would be willing to pitch in if the idea takes off. I didn't mean to sound like a pessimist in my last post but I think I came off that way. Eek

No Mano, I did not take it that way at all. I appreciate the insight into previous suggestions. It adds another demension to this proposition --- interest and time. Without the support of members and supporters, then it is truly a mute issue all together.

I love the idea but as Dante said i'm basically a gamer, not a programmer . . . sorry. I'd be willing to help any way i can tho. I may be able to provide a server . . . don't hold me to that tho. Confused
