Here's a fairly early version of the site I'm designing for myself, the Flash Workshop.

Be sure to view it with a minimum resolution of 1024x768. When completed, I'll either
a) allow the user to choose what resolution they want to view the page in [800x600/1024x768]
- or -
b) detect the resolution the user's computer is running at and choose for them.

Take time to enjoy the menu. I put a hell of a lot of work into it. I think I'm going to do a cool mouse effect for the sub-menu that pops up when you click the "Flash" button.

I'm thinking... the choices (there will be 5 as opposed to the current 3) will scroll left/right quickly/slowly depending on the x position of the mouse related to its center. Any better suggestions?

...argh my eyes min, my eyes lol. Well just to say thats a awesome use of animation, just not so sure about the colors between the green and blue, but i do love the characters and animation.

Really? Green and blue not the best mix, huh? Hmm... what would be better? I was kinda wondering about that too.

P.S: That's not animation; it's ActionScript - very similar to Java.

lol...sorry min, yes i know its not "animation" havent used Flash in a long time, so couldnt remember the -proper- term, but you knew what i meant

as far as the colors, hey your the artist...just giving my opinion, just all that green...i know its a background image, but i think its just so much that it takes you away from the content.

Maybe tone it down a bit?

I think you might be on to something when you say "tone it down a bit". I've always kinda wondered why the more professional sites look so blande compared to what designers are capable of doing.

Bah... no toning down for me, even if I have to start a new revolution of eye-candy sites! lol... I'll work on the contrasting colors though. That's big. Thanks for the input!

Made an update - mainly to the menu and tweaked with the colors a bit. I made the scrolling sub-menu (click on the "Flash" button to access it)

What kind of preloader? One with percentage and such? I could whip one up for ya quickly and post the .fla so you could check out the code.

I have always wanted to learn some flash anyway. I have the program, I just don't know how to use it.
I will be looking forward to some of your tutorials.
BTW on the top message box that talks about how complicated it was to make, some of the text is cut off. Probly becuase I don't use internet exploder

Ah, really?! Socket, that really helps! Any other problems with compatability would be awesome... I'm thinking that I should download Netscape so I can work those out easier.

About the tutorials, www.ActionScript.org is where I learned about everything I know; however, I already knew Java which ActionScript is incredibly close to.

My tutorials probably won't be anything special, just much more elaborative tutorials of the same topics on ActionScript.org - Like if I had troubles with a certain problem, I'd comment on my alternate methods and such.

Only compatability thing I can tell is the cut off words. (indicated) and the titles of the message boxes (not indacated because I just noticed when I posted the picture)
