could you dudes list your system specs for me.
Most importantly CPU, video card and system RAM.

Also settings you play the game at (resolution, texture detail, worldlighting, dynamiclighting, mehscomplexity) and any non-programmable features such as anti-aliasing, anti isotropic filtering, N-Patch or clones (truform) and approx what framerate you get in the arena with an empty server and full server.

Also mention which API driver you use and if you have vertical sync enabled (and if you do, at what frequency)

TY.

Ok dudes, time to upgrade. I don't want my creativity to be held back by underachieving computers while at the same time I don't want you dudes to suffer bad performance.

Look around here, you can get an XP 1700+ for 50 dollars with extra added for a cheap mobo.

RADEON 8500 for 70 dollars. 9000 for 60.

Now if you sell your existing parts, you can slice that down even farther by some 10-20%

Or at least a GF2 MX400, that's much better than a TNT2, about 35 dollars. Sell the TNT2 and you can get the MX400 for the price of a few happy meals. Come on! Thumbs Up

Don't let it hold you back. Just expect to see an empty map. I hate to break it to you but I don't think anyone's going to do what you suggested.

I think the connection type is more important, but whatever ... 2Ghz, Ti4200, 512 ddr.

You don't realize that most people have much better computers than you think.

The majority doesn't have TNT2 video cards and 3 digit CPU frequencies anymore. If you are unable to play in the more complex maps well I'm very sorry for you but the world isn't going to be held back by a few old computers.

If you are in a situation where you are unable to upgrade than you will have to scrap every setting to a minimum and hope for the best.

I wouldn't think I would even have to suggest to upgrade anything that old, some people may not have the cash they are not to blame, but they will just have to make the best of the situation.

Well perhaps, but it has nothing to do with a static environment.

Ah, well thats good then. A few people will hardly stop a good server from being a success and as much as I don't want those people to be in a disadvantage since we have a few of them in low caliber, I do hope they find some spare change to upgrade their comps to reasonable levels. Not only would this be very bad for more complex maps but even the existing arena. I've played in LCA on a 700Mhz Celeron with a radeon 7200 392MB RAM and it wasn't pretty. Even with detail settings completele scrapped, even customized in the INI file the FPS was so low I just couldn't play.

Check out the classifieds section in that place. I hang around the area a lot and people are very trustworthy. They sell some of their older stuff for very good prices when upgrading. You can always try EBay too Big Grin. It doesnt cost that much at all nowadays to get a very good Rune playing comp.

Yea lol, you need a computer to play Rune Big Grin

A static environment (the one that isnt net transferred in realtime) is locally processed, and for a complex environment you need a good computer.

Thanks for sharing that; i didnt know it Beer
Unless you intend to "single-play", i heard that net play performance is highly dependent on the bandwidth of your connection, the latency (aka ping), and the packet loss.

It is very much so but the connection transfers information such as actor/player location/rotation, this has nothing to do with how many textures or polys a map has, your system takes care of those not your connection. That's all local information.

For all it matters you could have a T1 connection but your online experience is gonna be crap if you're running Rune on a Tandy.
