Google is the most incredible thing that the world has ever seen. From the best search engine to GMail to all the many extensions it provides for free that we take for granted... now they've just gone too damned far. It is the Google Maps Beta... and it is fucking amazing!
You just go to
http://maps.google.com and type in the location (my structure is simple: "# streetname streettype town state" such as "1111 lmao ave brooklyn ny" just like that). Then it'll make a map and point the location, from there you can zoom in, check out a satellite photo and see the actual house and even get driving directions right on the satellite image, etc! (eat that, MapQuest). They use military satellites I'm sure... though the images are a little dated (construction that's been completed for a while is still visible in certain areas according to Pete's relatives...). It is absolutely incredible though, I can see my house and you can actually see Pete's garage and almost his mother's car in the driveway. I love it.
I wasn't able to find Woody's house though, there's no satellite images for his region (hence the beta)... but I'm pretty sure all of New Jersey is mapped out because I found everything I wanted! You can even see how much of a dump Staten Island is (I went to the harbor with Leigh until like 1AM tonight and we sat right across from Staten Island with just the big ol' ocean in between... NYC's lights are crazy bright and some fireworks actually went off in random locations, too, heh... so anyway yeah its fun to come home from that and look at the satellite images of where I was and such). Mind you I don't live near there, but where I was tonight was close so yeah. What you see in my photo is Carteret, New Jersey.
ANYWAY ITS LATE SO I'LL JUST GET TO IT. HERE'S THE SATELLITE IMAGE OF MY HOUSE, WORKPLACE AND SCHOOL. I circled everything in colors to make it more clear, too;
Carteret, New JerseyGreen: My house (didn't know that was so circular).
Orange: Shop Rite (workplace/grocery store).
Blue: Carteret High School (learning place).
Top-Right: Do you know what those are? We're a prime target; it is definitely kind of scary seeing all of those there.
I'm sorry the image is so big, so what if the forum stretches... I want everyone to see the image without clicking a damn link thanks to buggy InfoPop. Enjoy playing with Google Maps and I hope you guys can find your homes, too... frankly I'm in love with this shit. If you don't care: what a shame. Oh and I don't know if this is for other continents or even for Canada, you never know until you try (I don't really know the address structure for other countries). Seeing my own and my friend's houses is just... too cool... for words... really I hope everyone who can enjoy this, does.
