We would like Officers to be selected by merit over funds; so we've decided to separate Officer standing from dues and introduce the Patron.

The Patron will be distinguished on the Member's page and the server's MOTD for exceptional contribution.

Both Members and Patrons may be Officers.

The Associate no longer exists; and the Member's fee has been likewise reduced to $15.  Those Members for whom $15 poses a problem should request to contribute the Associate's fee.

Sounds alright to me. But patron on the server hmmmm. Could we have a little more of a masculine title next to the name in the server. I don't mind being called one in the site.

Tell you what, Mid; we'll keep it simple; we're Patrons on the forum and Members/Officers on the server until we come up with a good solution.

Sounds good. It is just that I found patron not as intimidating as a tag in the server. That is all I am saying. I don't mean to be a pain about it. Sorry about that.

But seriously; the "Patron" designation is behind-the-scenes, and shows up under a special section on the Member page and perhaps the MOTD.  This gives us the freedom to do as we will with the Member designation.

at the moment having some minor issues with video card and mouse and adsl line (it hasn't made any difference since i chose a crappy plan )...i'm actually getting dumped more often from vent and my screen buggers up when i exit into software mode and come back...

I pulled through and found you a good site to read about. You might have to update your BIOS for the new card. If you do you do realize that by doing a improper flash can result in a broken computer. If you do decide on flashing make sure to get certified ECS BIOS updates. You can talk to me today later on. This site is also in german in parts. You may have to get a translation. I went through the pages and most are in english. I hope your board has printing on it incase you have to change a jumper or two. Remember what you did if you touch any of the physical parts of the motherboard or setup in the BIOS. Oh ya make sure to ground yourself before diving in. I sure hope this can help you.

yeah, i've been writing from another line these coupla days...so this is a bit of a tirade...
no-one in these parts uses dialup, so this might fall on deaf ears...but i want to clarify my experience a bit...

thing is, both my bro and i are setting up adsl in our houses (he's in a different state)...
and not wanting to be too much of a financial burden, we opted for two very low-tier 128k plans (mistake!!), figuring it would only add an extra $10 US approximately (when compared to monthly dialup-plan+ connecting cost)...we liked the fact that we got some webspace, there's *absolutely no* limits (ie no excess charge for going over the quota), and i'm "on" all the time (before, i didnt really have a timeout, but connection became sluggish after 5-6 hours)..and its also with the same isp, so we got mega discounts for setups and installations...

SUCKAS!! (yes, i know i am)...

well, it hasnt worked out to the best since i've had my plan shaped already (ie i've gone over the pissy-little quota): my top d/lspeed is now about 10 kbs...
good news is i can d/l as much as like forever...this is the only isp in aussie-land without excess charging...
but in terms of rune, i'm kinda in the same place...i've come to realise,as i've suspected, that it's really cos i live in an a**hole of the world, in terms of hi-speed connectivity...way too many slowish hops to boston...

as for graphics card, its not as big a deal as i thought; i can definitely live with it, i dont really want to flash my bios until i back up some important stuff and finish some assignments..thanks mid, i'll do so later in the year...i know where to turn to for great enthusiastic help...and thnx unter, it was kinda a firewall problem..
