I'm about ready to turn in an assignment and I just wanted to make sure it loads properly on different PC's.

It's cheesy, but this is the assignment.

1. Create a three-page personal web site using Front Page (or another web editing software….you may not use templates provided by ISPs online—e.g. geocities).

2. The web site must include the following components:

a. Background (can be a pattern or graphic—anything other than white or black)
b. Link to your resume (in Word format)
c. Photo/picture of yourself
d. An email link

I just want to make sure the flash intro loads properly and the "C's" on the top, bottom, and left side load nicely. (IE they're not cut off)

All those C's...Why?

The C's are Central Michigan's logo.

Every layout I could conjure up was either too bland or too ornate. I thought the logo themed with the school's colors would look ok. As far as professionalism goes, I guess I'll find out when I submit it for grading.

Nice touch with the flash. Ya you did a perfect job in choosing your colors. I haven't looked at your code yet but I will.

I suspected that I'd have problems getting them lined up. About 75% of the people see them just fine, the rest see them cut off. I'm not willing to take the chance that my professor falls into the 25%.

Very nice man; the intro is to long tho (the typing stuff).

Why would that be? I'm in the 'fine' category. If it helps troubleshooting any, I'm running 1024X768, 32 bit resolution.

btw: I changed the table settings on the site, i had it on percentage instead of pixels. They should load better (but not quite perfect)

Here's my input if ya still want it:

As opposed to having

<p align="left">& nbsp;</p>

a whole lot to seperate your content from the bottom menu, split that cell into two cells - one big (content cell) and one small (menu cell) - This way you won't have to do any readjusting when you alter the content. You will, however, need to set a rowspan of 2 on your next, bigger menu cell.

With the cell widths, I noticed you alternated between percentage and pixel specifications. As a general rule, you may want to stray from that. If you know the definite widths of a couple of the columns (ie: the two border cells with the C's in them) and you want another cell to be as wide as it can be (ie: content cell) define the definite widths with pixels and don't give a width to the content. This coupled with a set width for the entire table will allow the content cell to expand as much as it needs to without going over the total width.

There's a much easier way to set the properties of links - although it will change all of the links to this new general form. In your head tag, do this:

You'll still need to manually change the size of the fonts, unless you put

font-size: XXpx

Where XX is the number of pixels (px) in height.

I'm not sure what all the

<p>& nbsp;</p>

is for after your menu items in your menu cell... is it to counter the default vertical alignment? If so, you can set the vertical alignment of any cell by including valign="Top" in the <td> tag.

To have the C's create a border on the right side, you'll need to add another column identical to the first column in the second row. Simply adding

 <td width="81" background="cmu(2).jpg" height="393"> </td>

after your menu cell should do the trick.

Thanks Min. I want to do a little more work on it (outside of the assignment specs) but I'm not in a rush. I will incorporate those ideas though, I'm sure it'll make for a more streamlined site.

The bad code, (ie - ;nbsp), is a product of using FrontPage. I know it's not the greatest web editor on earth, but it's easiest for me. Besides, I don't have the aspirations of doing a much more detailed page than I have. It's not necessary to me because it's not the type of page you visit often.

WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) - software uses nbsp; = blank space other then using < br > or any other ways of leaving a blank space.
