Ok, here I go.

Warning: This is the longest post I've ever written, so don't bother reading it unless you have a bit of time. You might not want to be in a terrific mood when you read this, either; it'll probably ruin it.

After last night's gross display of cross-member flaming, I've decided to post a somewhat unbiased view of the current problems in the club.

It would seem to me that this entire fiasco began with Shady (which of the countless debacles in the LCC haven't?) becoming a minor. Along with a few other people, Rhoedd's interpretation of such an event was that the officers were accepting lame play - which then became the real trigger to these current problems.

Here's a more logical interpreation of Shady's minorship acceptance that I don't think a lot of you caught on to:
Shady's been around for a very long time. I remember encountering him when I played in the Bitorin days - and don't get me wrong, I despised playing with him. However, I recall Rhoedd complaining that Shady should be banned/kicked/etc. He's been through all of that. Shady's been banned a number of times from this server, and kicked countless times. The real fact is, though, that he has changed considerably. Had you played against him when he was starting out, you'd be content with how nice he's being. As much as a lot of us don't want admit it, Shady is a vertebrae in Low Caliber's back bone and I think his minorship is our way of recognizing it.

Although that Shady topic may have got the ball of problems rolling, it certainly isn't the answer to the current problem involving "the assholes that have been making the club's Rune experience miserable lately".

Here's what I think, and it may cost me more than I'm willing to lose right now, but here goes nothin'.

To Rhoedd: While I don't believe you're in the right on this subject, I also don't believe you're in the wrong. Yes, laming is a problem on this server. It always has been. Here's a few posts of mine from the Bitorin days for your reading pleasure.

If you read these posts, you'll know that I was once fighting the same fight you're trying to. It's pointless, man. After all is said and done, the cycle will continue, and it's something we have to live with - which I believe Mano and Imp were saying in their posts. The fact that you interpretted that as sponsoring lame play and turned around to insult them does not show much character on your part.

Honestly, man, if you can't get along with the other people in this club, maybe you should consider forfeiting your membership. As much as I would like to continue playing with you in-game, maybe it's just not your time as a member yet.

To Midknight: You've changed a lot lately - mainly since you were promoted to Secretary.

Since you had the gall to ask these questions, I'm going to show the balls to answer them:

Tell me, what kind of person I am?
Honestly, I'm not sure any more. The Midknight I first met is a very different person than the Midknight I know now. The earlier one showed that he truly cared about people and was fun to play around with. The current one seems pretty full of himself and will shoot down anyone who disagrees with his views.

Tell me, how I play?
Again, a two part answer. The old Mid was a graceful winner and had a much more fluid fighting style. The more recent Mid likes to brag quite a bit about achievments and seems to do a lot of button-mashing in-game (double binding keys a few times, I believe).

Tell me who you look towards as a follower when you first came to the arena?
I've always looked up to Manowar, Unter, Lord Wintermoon, and - especially - Revenant. I've mainly seen you as an equal, Mid - even if your title says otherwise. Maybe it's because you weren't around when I first started playing, I'm not sure.

Tell me how do you think it makes the person who promoted you to a minor or membership feel?
The Midknight that had first sponsored my membership would be proud of me for speaking my mind in the face of everything that's been going on lately; the new Midknight's reaction will be known in a soon-to-be-made reply, I imagine.

Tell me who laid out the rules (not laws) of the server.
Well, I believe that was a joint project by Bitorin and Unter. I remember reading the same constitution we have now back in my Bitorin days (before you were even around). I have no idea why you'd ask such a question.

Tell me who plays for fun?
I sure as heck try to. It makes it pretty hard, however, when the Secretary is swearing his mouth off at one of the other members in-game from the site. Which will take me to my last argument after this last question...

Tell me in all your time on the server have you really been out numbered or are you just weak to the fact that you need someone else from the club to help you.
As most people know, I'm quite good at disposing with lamers. Most of the time, I can fight more than 1 of them at a time, and have no problems exposing or kicking them when they get out of hand. I have no idea why others can't do as I do.

Now, back to last night's truly ugly display. Mid, I hardly think that was any way for an officer to behave - especially in front of players on the server. Not only did you kick a fellow member (Rhoedd) for personal reasons, but every sentence that came out of you was an insult - most of which loaded with swears. I mute people who do that in-game, and you're an officer. Perhaps Rhoedd does deserve a reconsideration on his membership, but my god man, please try to control your vocabulary. I heavily doubt Sker will ever want to become a member of this club after all that shit.

As I said before, I think it would be best if Rhoedd resigned his membership. But it may also be better if someone like Dante became Secretary - even if only temporarily while Midknight chills out.

If making such a proposition forfeits my membership for some odd reason, so be it. I'll be content as long as I can play on the server.

That's my 2 cents, take it as you will.

I read the chatlogs from last night and wasn't very impressed.

Mini thanks for that. But ya ok you know what I am really getting fed up with a few people and life isn't any better on this side of the monitor. Last night was a display of utter hatred. They want enforcement, I will give them that. Roe has no right nor do other minors or members to bash the club. (Roe can only understand people it seems if you insult him or use profane words anything else doesn't seem to work and besides that he has personally attacked me on vent and I am very very upset with him.) They were brought into it for the fact that we saw members and minors for the club and that they could help us grow. I sure haven't made any new comers leave but I know those that are starting to bash and abuse our club have been. They keep asking for the old times when all but Shady was laming to them. Well guess what they don't know that because they weren't around when those good times were. Summer 2002 - January 2003. Those were the good times and probably earlier then that.

For commenting on the Secretarial position appointed to me, well I wouldn't even think of saying it has gone to my head. Because I haven't expressed anything to show that. Also me bragging on things. I see many others do the same. So don't be pointing fingers at me.

For all who wonder about a members night and a tournament. Think about it. When I ask about them, all of you are like "Oh I can't find time" or "I will be on but not for long." This isn't very encouraging to me to want to start anything. So we either get something solid down or don't bother asking.

As for promotional things for the club. I am a graphics artist and I can do somethings but there are many other things I have found out through knowing a lot of you that you have talent and should contribute.

[edit] Oh and for saying I will shoot down anyone that isn't true. Roe is the only one I have expressed this to. Please do a little research into what you are saying about me.

*sniffle* Can't we let bygones be bygones and all get along?? I too was around in the old Shady days, and haven't played with him since ( that I recall anyway ). It really bugs me to see all this infighting... but I will not take any sides at all for two reasons:
1: I wasn't there so I can't speak from personal experience
2: I like ALL the people involved in these petty disputes!!

I do read the posts and it is very confusing when one day it's buddy/buddy and the next it's "have at them!!!". I really like the fact though that at least everyone seems to be trying to be rational about this stuff. Please ( for me even?? ) try to get along or when I get back in I'll have to open up a can 'o wup ass on all y'all. 'aight?

sorry if this post is bitter but I have been reading a lot lately on current world states in various places, and all this "virtual fighting amongst peers" really seems quite inconsequential.
I mean hey!!! Y'all have food and shelter!!!! How hard is it to put up with a bit of laming? Even I (shudder!!!) have probably lamed a few times!
Maybe when I get back I will start trying more diplomacy on these alleged (alleged 'cause I didn't see it myself ) lamers. So far (except for Shady) I have never found someone who cannot be un-lamed, and even Shady is (albeit marginally) better.

Remember all.... ya never know what someone outside their comp is experiencing, unless they tell you. Sometimes people have bad days and even moments when their life seems like it can't get any better. Forgive . Forget . If you can't do it manually then I recommend high dosages of Pot!

Good points Min, always a true @ heart, we here are all in some way shape or form because we were here, and may always be. This game is my point right now in gaming because it takes it to the next level, aside from being just a game. I among many whether you guys know it have been around also for a VERY long time, but back in the day when Rune 1st came out i mostly played as Ragnar and also as eraser, but didnt talk much.

...and just to prove it.

1. i was on the server before HOV was realeased.

2. I played on this club back when alot of people had admin capabilities...if you guys remember thos people that would summon bigger swords and fly around, go invisible, summon elemental crap so on.

i think it was when the club was going through a "molt" stage not sure, whether you guys think i have been around long or not..i know i have, and i have seen so much change which i did post my express on that way back on my 1st post on the forum. I do remember how shady was back then, and there is a little bit of a differance...but still not enough to make him in any form respectful or honest.

Midknight, the worst thing I said to you on Vent was that you are a lamer supporter. That is what made you so mad. Ministration, I thank you for attempting to remain unbiased in your view of things. I also have two things to say to you.

Shady isn't my largest problem, believe it or not. I'm even attempting to learn how to get along with him, Faison-style. The reason I keep complaining that laming is supported is that kicking them is now heavily frowned upon. Giving them many warnings (at the very least three) is the only way I've been able to kick anyone lately without getting yelled at and threatened with dismemberment. I've heard Manowar (I think it was, at least; Manowar, please don't get offended if it wasn't you) state within the last two weeks that the rules are "optional" and do not have to be followed anymore. Now, every time I accuse the officers of allowing laming to occur, I invariably get "I can't be on all the time enforcing the rules" as an argument, right alongside of the "But kicking scares people off" one. I'm not asking that the officers start enforcing the rules; I'm asking that they stop hindering the enforcement of the rules by members.

Oh, and you suggest that I resign. Well, I've been considering it a over the last month, and the last few days have made me seriously think about doing it. However, there's one thing. Whether you believe it or not, I like most of the people in this club. Eraser's recent minorship has reinforced that, too. If, as Midknight claims, most of the people in this club do not like me even though they profess to, then that is their problem - for not being man enough to confront me with their concerns - and not mine. Backstabbing is not an honorable trait. But, if that many people actually don't like me, then I'll be more than happy to resign my membership and continue to have contact with the people that do like me. However, anyway, I'd like to wait until after this Friday's shlongfest (or whatever).

Mid - Your my fucking bud. But dude if you have a problem with rho you know exactly how you should have been dealing with it from the start. The fact that this shit is on public display and even an issue in game is fucking ridiculous. You BOTH know better. Although i do agree with a majority of what mini had to say i cannot comment on the part about your officership going to your head. I have always thought of you as a cool dude and until now as someone who sets a fine example for our club. I trust that you will make some better decisions in the future, and i hope this will have no effect on our friendship because i do value it.

Rhoe - What can i say? I think just about everybody in the club has had there differences with you at one time or another. I feel at times you lose control of yourself and become very angry and you tend to act out on that. I feel like every week there is a new long drawn out arguement concerning yourself and another person. Dude arguing is pointless, there is no winner, and the closest you can come to winning is to just shut the fuck up and let the other person ramble on. Unfortunatley you are always the rambler. So if you honestly value your place here in the club i suggest you keep your opinions to yourself and grow up. Because rhoedd the normal guy who likes to play rune is cool as fuck in my book. But rhoedd the dramaqueen-cry baby who wants to ban everything, quote everybody, and argue with everyone is someone i want to beat up.

Like Fister, Fais, and some of the others I feel I've reached that zen-like level of fun, and because of that kicking happens less.

I think what may have made it so explosive was Rhoedd's wording. I don't think that calling midknight a lamer supporter is fair. I don't see him activley supporting any lamers.
At the worst I think he would be more of a lamer enabler. enabling because he doesn't do much if anything to prevent it. that is very much not the same thing.
As for lamers, I don't think I would ever need to kick them, I think that the nosafe is the most useful command that seems to be vastly underused. If the lamer can't be safe anywhere he loses most of his power to piss people off because the can go kill him anywhere. (Does that include the 1v1 arena so he can't tie it up for everyone?)

Yea, nosafe extends to the trough of the 1on1 arena.

Unfortunately, I also get lectured on the subject of tolerance (although, not threatened with dismemberment in the case of nosafing) quite often for using it. It seems that this three warnings absolute minimum policy is the thing that's really getting on my nerves.

On the bright side, I'm quite happy to say that we were able to have an excellent game last night, with Midknight and myself both playing without any hard words. Perhaps things aren't out of control.

I have a suggestion (and before jumping on it and saying that I want to ban everything, it's just a thought). What would happen if we made it so that you are only safe before entering the arena, and that when you exit the arena to get another weapon, you do so at your own risk? I think that eliminating the ability to run from fights would remove a lot of frustration for a lot of people. Running is the worst offence, both in my personal opinion and in my observations of the reactions of others. Troughkilling doesn't really bother me nearly that much. Another thing that might help reduce laming is making the Rune of spoils automatically get picked up by the winner, so that they only have to touch it rather than render themselves helpless for two seconds while picking it up.

I know the reasoning for the Rune of Spoils instead of a Regen After Kill was the ability to give a player the right to choose to fill up or not. Autopickup could be a good solution.

People . . . its a game. Have fun with it. These arguments are ridiculous. Half of you have never even seen pics of the others let alone met them. So let the limbs fly and laugh at the lamers, cuz what are they really gaining by laming? A couple of electronic kills that don't mean jack shit? We're all taking this way too seriously.
