[KOD]chronic(HC) was trying to crash the server and had a friend with him who i had to kick, some dude with a korean flag who was animation hacking. I have seen him before.
Only thing i could do about these idiots was to kick them repetetivley but they were pretty determined so.
This type of shit usually happens really late at night and i see it all the time. Any ideas for a ban or temporary ban maybe for 3 games? I don't know if this type of thing happends during the day but i have seen it plenty of times at night. I think dante has as well.

Yeah, r0x, it's usually 1 or 2 of the same morons who just have to ruin things, unfortunately. It bothers me that one of us has to 'police' just so other people can play. They're tricky bans, because they can probably changes IPs too...

Arasal or whatever name he goes under is the worst spam-crasher (the recent arena problem happened straight after his spamming) and he does animation hacks regularly (r0x, Fister, Szerdi, myself have seen this; I've shown Mano some demorecs too).
Tonight that Chronic fellow was pretty bad too, mouthing off like no tomorrow and suiciding/reentering for over an hour...but it's weird, he's usually not an idiot in deathmatch servers and HOV Arena...maybe a fakenicker, who knows?

Well, it's true, it usually happens at this time of the whole day, because they seem to have cotton on to the fact that they can just exit and re-enter at will to shake off mutes, nosafes, etc. and that there aren't really any repercussions to the kick - they just reenter and keep the crap up. A few times now i've greeted Mano in his morning with a deluge of complaints (sorry dude).

Fister's also seen a lot of this too, I bet, but he's too nice to do anything but leave; that's what I have to do too...

If it were any other server, we'd have crashed several times over and/or be forced to listen to these kids' lame insults ad nauseum; Unter's work makes us able to do lots, but these idiots mean business in their own juvenile way. Leaving and coming back often attracts them to come back too, like they camped out the place!

I'm normally mild-mannered, but it's obviously annoying me that they treat like sh*t something they didn't spend time and effort to pay for and maintain...

Hmm; the essence and inverted genius of vandalism.

What would you suggest: to make member commands permanent throughout the game by IP, and institute an entry threshold? To make commands stick over the end of a game makes quite a logistical difference, but wouldn't be impossible should the need arise.

hey Unter, can I get a chat log on this one?

If there's evidence in the logs, I'm headed over to the KOD forum, lol.

Better yet, dude; let's set you up with some FTP so you can access those bad-boys autonomously.  Let me know when you're on.

LOL, I'm venting some choleric funk.

Thing is, I haven't needed to nosafe/mute anyone really (they're good to have as a mild admonishment though), so I'm not advocating making those particular member commands stick for the entire game. Nowadays lame comments/chat-spoils-killing/whoring matter little to my anaesthetised senses...

But regarding nuking, it seems to me that a kickban is the only solution for these crazy hours of the day, as much as I dislike ban-happiness in a public service.
My point is, do the ban at that exact moment the really lame "instant disconnect/reconnect" spam stuff is being pulled, not a few hours afterward.
Because of the suicide protection, there's no message of the person dying several times each second, but they've obviously bound a key which makes them disconnect and reconnect several times each second instead.
A cool-out period of 1 hour should be adequate for them to give up the idiocy and go elsewhere, otherwise ol' bertha the server seems to get...moody...for the following few hours.

Yeah man these dudes get so annoying, and the thing is we are pretty much powerless against them. I say Thumbs Up to a kick/ban for an hour or longer command.

I should clarify: they would remain toggle; only that, before they've been toggled off, anyone entering with that IP would be subjected to the same before the end of the game.  Cases of dual-IP's (say, Rhoedd and Yellow) are tricky; but here, at least, the innocent party would remain unsubjected unless they left and came back in.  That's a minor difficulty and could be undone by toggling that particular player off.

Any command which lasts after the end of a player's session (i.e. post-connect) is wrought with slight techincal imperfections, since IP's are by nature ambiguous.  May well be necessary though.

We can make nuke, by default, a game long.  People on the same router are, whether they like it or not, mutual diplomats.

That is: the “kick” command is aorist (in-out); the new “nuke” command, a game long?

There's also the possibility of the stripped down web admin we mentioned.

Oh but in that case you'd have to invest extra people with the web admin ability?

Which would be simpler?

Personally, I'd rather divest the power to a certain individual or two, rather than give that ability to the group as a whole.

I think a member command for such a thing opens doors for tyranny and chaos.
