first things first: **read me** this was my first day using the demo recording function in rune, certainly inspired by what mano and mid have done in the past and will no doubt do in the future... so bear with a novice please...and i hope this keeps the ball rolling for that project... firstly, try out this file, which is a demo file i took in-game at lca...i've contained detailed instructions for people who have never really used this before (like myself)... a few points to remember are: 1. a big thank-you to midknight and revenant, who kindly agreed to let me submit this (a great battle, 90% in roman swords). 2. this demo recording is a very nice compression: eg 13 minutes of gameplay = 1.89 megs dem file = 1.05 megs (55%) rar file. 3. having it activated in-game didnt seem to affect my connection in any noticeable way, but i had "dynamic lighting" off with everything else on. 4. unfortunately, my irritating modem's work is recorded too, so occasionally players will "skate"; that said, i know someone with a cable connection should take this recording idea further and i promise it doesn't detract that much from an absorbing duel. 5. i couldn't move that close to the actual fighting, but in one mode you see/hear through my eyes, in another, you can float around like a ghost and see from any angle (both have dis/advantages, see my text file for an analysis) something to consider, for those interested in developing the video project: i have no real clue how to convert this into a viable avi or mpg format, *but* i was thinking that people with much better computers and connections can maybe play with the "ghost" version of this demo-playing and use PowerGrabber 1.0 ( or some other "capturing" software) to get the demo into frames? once that is done, add in background music or overlays and subtitles, transition effects, special effects etc etc using moviemaker 2.0 or similar software? thanks for your attention and hope you found this somewhat interesting... demo5thjuly03.rar (1,077 Kb, 37 downloads) midknight vs revenant: don't miss this romans epic

sorry, i forgot to volunteer a few things: -to record a demo: while in game, type in console "demorec xxxx" without quotes and where xxxx is the filename...then search for xxxx.dem in rune/system. -to stop recording, type in the console: "stopdemo". -easier to just bind these keys... if people know more console commands other than these and what i included in the download file above, please post here? ps i didnt edit the demo, was hoping for some comments first...

oops, a bit of miscommunication i'll clear up: type in rune console once "romans.dem" is in system folder: "demoplay romans" or "demoplay romans?3rdperson" with the space in between the 2 words and without quote marks...dont have the file extension in console command... anyone can do the demo recording, but that was a nice spontaneous piece of work...didnt move around much since you can 3rd person in playback... whats that? narcissist? who me?...hehe [EDIT] quick, think of all the problems before the 60 min forum edit window is up...aieeeeee
